Arnau Guardia, winner of the UAB's ExpoNatura 2026 with ‘El salt del pioc’
The winners have been announced of the UAB's ExpoNatura 2026, a photo contest that aims to highlight biodiversity through different interpretations of nature. The first prize was awarded to Arnau Guardia, for his photo of "El salt del pioc" [The Leap of the Partidge], an image that captures a moment filled with the strength and movement of the bird, surrounded by nature. Its technical quality, composition and ability to convey the beauty and fragility of the bird stand out.
The second prize went to Marc Torra, author of "L’últim alè" [The Last Breath], an image of a lynx with its prey that shows the toughness and balance of wildlife. And third place went to Pau Cartanyà, with the photo "No es parla amb la boca plena" [No Talking with a Full Mouth] of a bee on a flower that focuses on the importance of pollinators in ecosystems.
ExpoNatura, which is organised by the Department of Animal Biology, Plant Biology and Ecology (BABVE), offers a space to show unique and inspiring perspectives on nature through photography. The competition includes the support of the UAB's Cultura en Viu, the Vice-Rectorate for Communication and Culture, and the sponsorship of the Altaïr bookstore, the Somaguait organisation specialising in environmental conservation and education, and the Orlum store serving photography professionals at the university.
