Andrés Chamarro elected new dean of the Faculty of Psychology

Andrés Chamarro, lecturer of the Department of Basic, Developmental and Educational Psychology of the UAB, has been elected dean of the Faculty of Psychology. The faculty board reached the decision in an extraordinary session which was held on 4 July.

The new dean will be taking over from lecturer Tatiana Rovira, who had been dean since 2019. The rest of his team will be made up of Tomàs Blasco, Secretary of the Faculty and Vice Dean for Economy; Estel Gelabert, Vice Dean for Work Placements and Institutional Relations; and Sònia Darbra, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees.

Chamarro received his PhD in Psychology from the University of Salamanca and is lecturer in the Area of Basic Psychology at the UAB. He has workd professionally and academically with prisons and with social education and social work training at the Pere Tarrés Foundation and Blanquerna (Ramon Llull University). Since 2015, he is a Serra Húnter lecturer. His research has focused on subjacent psychological processes implied in playing video games, using social networks and doing activities that define a lifestyle, such as extreme sports.
