Once again, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) is hosting the Health and Sustainability Week, which this year reaches its 16th edition and will be held from 16 to 24 April. This initiative focuses on the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, both physically and emotionally, as well as on the commitment to sustainability.

The Health and Sustainability Week is part of the Campus SiS project, a consolidated initiative that works to promote a healthier and more sustainable university environment on a daily basis. As in previous editions, the activities have been organised by various areas of the UAB, such as the Sustainability Office, the Commitment and Community Office, the Equality and Diversity Service, the Physical Activity Service, the Solidarity Foundation, and the Library Service, with the collaboration of other campus services and entities.

Aimed at the entire university community, the week aims to promote healthy and responsible lifestyle habits. In a context in which the use of the internet and social networks occupies a significant part of our time, it becomes especially relevant to value physical and mental health. At the same time, given the increase in pollution and environmental degradation, sustainability is consolidated as an essential pillar to move towards a more balanced and conscious future.

The week will be inaugurated on 16 April at 2:00 p.m. with a performance by the Campus Community Choir, a proposal that values group singing as a driving force for wellbeing, as a cohesive and participatory part of university life.

Throughout the week, the campus will host a wide variety of activities in different spaces, including practical workshops, such as sustainable cooking and emotional self-management, talks on emotional wellbeing, guided sports activities, exhibitions and audiovisual experiences. There will also be solidarity initiatives and proposals linked to responsible consumption and fair trade.

With this initiative, the UAB reaffirms its commitment to being a leader in promoting responsible consumption models and in constructing a university environment where health and sustainability are central axes.
