From 3 to 5 November, the UAB was present at the Barcelona Deep Tech Summit with a stand that brought together five spin-off and start-up companies and two entrepreneurial projects in the pre-incorporation stage. The seven initiatives showcased their technologies and presented their projects to stakeholders within the entrepreneurial and investment ecosystem.

The UAB stand at the summit gave visibility to seven entrepreneurial initiatives linked to the University: the companies Aeinnova, Bioeclosion, Tecous, Brainmapp and Balux Vision, and the projects Torion and OPTICmizing, currently in the pre-incorporation stage.

The five participating companies are developing innovative solutions in fields such as healthcare, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and the digitalisation of processes:

  • Aeinnova: develops wireless, battery-free industrial sensors that harness the residual heat from production processes to generate the energy they need to operate. This technology enables the monitoring of industrial equipment, the anticipation of potential failures, and the optimisation of maintenance, thereby helping to improve energy efficiency, reduce costs and minimise the industry's environmental impact.
  • Bioeclosion: develops portable diagnostic tools based on biosensors and molecular technologies that enable the rapid detection of biomarkers and pathogens, with applications in the field of health.
  • Tecous: transforms complex legal and administrative documents into visual, accessible and traceable digital experiences, with the aim of facilitating the understanding and management of information.
  • Brainmapp: develops software that automates the recording and visualisation of brain maps during surgical procedures, correlating stimulation points with patient responses and integrating brain images to support clinical decision-making.
  • Balux Vision: applies computer vision and artificial intelligence to the textile industry to detect defects in fabrics in real time and automatically stop the machines. It also offers a digital platform for monitoring production and facilitating traceability and data analysis.

And the two entrepreneurial projects in the pre-incorporation stage are working to bring new technologies to the market:

  • Torion: develops an innovative therapy for Parkinson’s disease, based on a peptide administered intranasally, with the aim of modifying the course of the disease. The project works to advance the development of the drug toward clinical phases.
  • OPTICmizing: develops optical sensors that enable the automation of processes in the agri-food industry. Its first solution, pHotoYOGURT, monitors the pH of yogurt in real time without the need for manual sampling, with the goal of improving the efficiency, quality, and sustainability of production.

In addition to being present in the exhibition space, the seven initiatives took part in micro-presentation sessions, in which they explained their value propositions, the technologies they are developing, and the growth opportunities to potential partners and investors.
