Record-breaking participation in the seventh edition of the UAB Sports Games
The Sports Games, organised by the SAF with the support of the Board of Trustees, took place from 13 to 16 October 2026 with a record-breaking number of participants: 2,418 people taking part in 21 different activities. The event again focused on the values of participation, fair play and respect, as well as giving support to the UAB's institutional campaign.
The UAB Sports Games are a welcome activity aimed especially at first-year students, but also open to the entire university community. Beyond the sporting aspect, they serve as a tool for stimulating university life, helping to strengthen the sense of belonging to the University, and to build a more cohesive, participatory and committed community.
This edition included 2,418 participants, distributed in 21 activities, in a playful, sporting, inclusive and diverse environment. A total of 1,120 women and 1,298 men participated. This has been the highest female participation to date: women have accounted for 45.98% of entries, consolidating the sustained growth trend that began in 2023 and moving towards a more balanced participation between women and men.
The data confirm the positive trajectory of this event and highlight the growing interest within the university community in an initiative that combines physical activity, social interaction, and social commitment.
This year, a Clothing and Sports Equipment Swap was also organised—an initiative encouraging the reuse of resources and help raise awareness within the university community about the importance of reducing environmental impact. The games joined the European Week of Sport under the slogan "Be Active", with the goal of combating a sedentary lifestyle and encouraging the university community to make exercising a regular habit.
The institutional campaign “Adopt a Tree and Come Plant It” was also included and promoted by the event's organisers with the aim of contributing to the transformation of Plaça del Coneixement into a climate refuge.
The university community's evaluation of the games has been very positive, with overall scores of 4 and 5 out of 5.
