Manel Puig-Domingo receives the Rolf Gaillard Award 2026, the highest European recognition in neuroendocrinology
Manel Puig-Domingo, lecturer of the UAB Faculty of Medicine and specialist in endocrinology was awarded the Rolf Gaillard Award 2026 by the European Neuroendocrine Association (ENEA), the most prestigious European award in neuroendocrinology.
This award is given in recogintion of Puig-Domingo's scientific, clinical and teaching career in the study of endocrine diseases, particularly those related to the pituitary gland. Throughout his professional career, he has combined biomedical research with clinical practice and the training of new generations of healthcare professionals.
Recently retired, Puig-Domingo served as director of the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP), head of the Endocrinology and Nutrition Department at Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital, and lecturer of Endocrinology at the UAB Faculty of Medicine.
His contribution to the development of neuroendocrinology has also been evident within scientific societies. As a member of the Spanish Society of Endocrinology and Nutrition (SEEN)—serving first as vice-president and later as president—he spearheaded initiatives aimed at strengthening collaborative research and enhancing the international profile of specialised neuroendocrinology groups.
With the Rolf Gaillard Award 2026, the European scientific community recognises a career marked by academic excellence, a contribution to the understanding of neuroendocrine pathologies, and a commitment to research and teaching, fields in which he has left a significant mark both at the UAB and in the health and research system.
