The UAB stands in solidarity with the people participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla
The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) wishes to express its deep concern over the Israeli army's assault on the Global Sumud Flotilla, which was once again heading towards Palestine with humanitarian aid. It also wishes to show its solidarity with all the people participating, including members of our university community.
The Global Sumud Flotilla aims to bring humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. The Israeli armed forces however have prevented this solidarity mission from reaching its destination, by acting illegally in international waters. As it did in October 2025, when the first expedition of the Flotilla was also attacked, the UAB expresses its firm rejection of this action and demands full respect for the rights of all people participating in the mission. Likewise, the University demands the reestablishment of the free circulation of the boats and that the Israeli authorities allow the safe arrival of the Flotilla to its destination.
The UAB governing team once again urges the international community to act with determination to guarantee respect for human rights and access to humanitarian aid for the Palestinian population. Our university, as it cannot be otherwise, reiterates its commitment to peace, human rights, global justice, international law, and solidarity among peoples. The UAB will continue to stand in favour of peace in the Middle East and against the genocide of the Palestinian people.
