An upper secondary student participating in the research project assessments of the Argó Programme, offered by the Institute for Education Studies (ICE) received first prize in the Exporecerca Jove fair. The award will be delivered by UAB Rector Javier Lafuente in an event that acknowledges young talent and excellence in research.

Exporecerca

At the fair, student Marc Pujadas presented his research project at the stand, where it was well received by the public and the jury. His project was selected as one of the ten top projects in the upper secondary school category (Batxillerat), and this allowed him to go on to the final stage of the competition.

The final competition took place on Monday 23 February at the Casa Convalescència UAB. Throughout the day, finalists defended their projects with a presentation in front of a specialised jury. Marc Pujadas, who has been developing his work in the field of artificial intelligence under the guidance of Jordi González, lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the UAB and member of the Argó Programme's assessment team, presented the results of his research with great success.

In the end the jury awarded him first prize, and he will now go on to participate in the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (Regeneron ISEF), the world's most important pre-university fair, which brings together students from all over the world and distributes more than nine million dollars in prizes. Marc will attend next May to represent his work internationally.

According to Marc, he particularly wishes to highlight the key role of the assessment received through the ICE's Argó Programme, which has allowed him to delve deeper into his project and achieve a high level of scientific rigour. This support has been crucial to the success he has achieved.
