The UAB donates the money collected for the UAB Solidarity Run in support of La Marató de 3Cat
The UAB Solidarity Run in support of La Marató de 3Cat, scheduled for 14 December, was postponed due to the activation of the Catalan government's contingency plan for the detection of swine fever in wild pigs. Finally, given that the alert situation continues, the Solidarity Run will not take place and the UAB has made the donation of the money raised to the La Marató Foundation. The total amount raised, including the non-returned registrations of participants and the donation from the Applus firm, is 23,192 euros.
The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona informs that the UAB Solidarity Run to raise funds for the La Marató de 3Cat, which was programmed to take place on 14 December 2025, will not be held in the end. The activity had already been postponed following the activation of the Catalan government's contingency plan for the detection of swine fever in wild pigs. After having analysed the evolution of the situation and the associated organisational implications, it was considered that it is not viable to reschedule the event during this academic year.
Despite the cancellation of the event, the UAB has donated the money raised in this edition to the La Marató Foundation. The amount comes from the non-returned registrations of the participants and the donation made by the Applus firm. In total, 23,192 euros have been allocated to support cancer research, the central focus of this year's La Marató de 3Cat.
The University appreciates the involvement and willingness to collaborate of all those registered, as well as the volunteers and collaborating entities. The UAB reaffirms its commitment to this solidarity initiative and is confident of resuming the organisation of the race in the next edition, with full normality.
