The UAB is participating, together with sixteen other universities and institutions, in La Conversa, the new Catalan-language edition of The Conversation, which directly connects university research with public debate around the world. In this way, the UAB is adding another channel to its usual research communication channels, such as the scientific dissemination platform DivulgaUAB. With this launch, Catalan is fully incorporated into a global ecosystem of scientific dissemination with high social impact.

The Conversation is a non-profit journalism project born in Australia that publishes articles written by researchers and edited by specialised journalists. Its goal is to bring academic knowledge closer to citizens through clear, accessible texts based on scientific data. All content is distributed under a Creative Commons license, which allows free republication in media in any country and significantly expands its reach. The platform accumulates thousands of readings around the world every month and has established itself as a global benchmark for scientific dissemination thanks to a network of international editions and the direct collaboration of research staff. This global reach demonstrates that science explained with rigour and clarity can connect with a wide and diverse audience, beyond borders and languages.

In this context, La Conversa was born with the desire to validate research conducted in Catalan, facilitate its social transfer, and connect it with the great scientific, social, cultural and economic challenges of our time. The initiative allows the knowledge generated in universities and research centres to transcend the strictly academic sphere and contribute to creating a more informed, critical and committed society with scientific thought.

The Catalan-language edition is launched by the Vives Network of Universities, with the participation of the University of Alacant (UA), the University of Andorra (UdA), the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), the Abat Oliba University CEU (UAO CEU), the University of Barcelona (UB), the University of Girona (UdG), the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), the International University of Catalonia (UIC Barcelona), the Jaume I University (UJI), the University of Lleida (UdL), the Open University of Catalonia (UOC), the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), the Rovira i Virgili University (URV), the University of Valencia (UV), and the University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC).
