The UAB is sad to announce the death of Eduard Goñalons
Eduard Goñalons i Sintes, retired professor of the Department of Cell Biology, Physiology and Immunology of the UAB and former dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, passed away on 23 June 2025. The UAB extends its deepest condolences to his family and friends and to all the people who knew and appreciated him, and expresses its sadness for having lost a member of its community.
Professor Eduard Goñalons i Sintes was a key figure in the scientific development of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, especially as founder and first director of the animal physiology unit. His work was fundamental in establishing this field of study and research in the early days of the faculty.
He was also dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, a position to which he was elected in a session of the Senate in 1987.
Professor Goñalons was member of the Department of Cell Biology, Physiology and Immunology until his retirement in 2008. His academic career stands out for his contribution to teaching and research in the field of Physiology.
Friday 27 June a farewell ceremony will be held at the Les Corts Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m.
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine remembers with respect and esteem the dedication and teaching spirit that Professor Eduard Goñalons brought to the group. It will be an honour to be able to come together to share this farewell, which will undoubtedly be emotional and full of gratitude.
