The group Quartet Moana, a string quartet of classical and contemporary music, is organising two concerts at the UAB Theatre on Wednesday 22 March, from 10am to 11am and from 4pm to 5pm, to vindicate the importance of women in the field of music and to recall some of the greatest musical pieces by the most influential female composers in history. The concert entitled "Women Composers" features works by Maria Theresia von Paradis, Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel, Emilie Mayer, Germaine Tailleferre and Stacy Garrop, women who have written their names in the history of music.

The public will be able to enjoy free of charge, limited to the capacity of the UAB Theatre Hall, a concert for string instruments with pieces by some of the greatest 19th and 20th century women composers who have contributed their creativity to contemporary and folk music. During the concert, they will perform  "Silicienne" by Maria Theresia von Paradis, "Allegretto" by Fanny Mendelessohn-Hensel, "Allegro appassionato" by Emilie Mayer or "Demons and angels" by Stacy Garrop.

"The concert arises from an interest in and vindication of women composers. We perform pieces by heroines who lived in a time when it was even more difficult to work and develop independently", emphasize the members of the Quartet Moana.

Quartet Moana, founded in 2013, is currently formed by the violinists Rubén Herrera and Carlota Novell, the violist Sergi Miró and the cellist Clara Majón, four musicians who have coincided during their higher studies at the Conservatori de Música del Liceu in Barcelona.

The concerts of this repertoire seek to approach different styles and periods in a pedagogical way, to delve into the wide range of artistic expressions that concur in music and to delve into the training of the classical string quartet.
