Master description

This master's degree of 60 credits has no specialisations as its compulsory modules are clearly research-oriented and each optional module gives broad coverage of the professions of art historian or artistic heritage specialist.

Of the 60 credits 40 are compulsory, or which 9 are  practicum credits, 22 for analysis of the artistic heritage and 9 for the master's dissertation. In addition, there are 3 optional modules of 10 credits, of which 2 modules are to be taken.

The Study Plan is divided into 2 semesters (only one academic year).

Timetables for each specific subject can be consulted in the academic calendar. Timetables for work placements are agreed upon with the tutor of the centre where the work placement will take place and the student.

(1) The admission requirements for the master’s program are as follows:

  • A university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent), preferably in Art History or an equivalent qualification.

Graduates in the fields of Arts and Humanities, Architecture, and other Social Sciences degrees—such as Audiovisual Communication, Journalism, Tourism, Anthropology, and Educational Sciences or equivalent—may also be admitted. These students, after an evaluation of their academic record by the Master’s Committee, may be required to take supplementary courses. If necessary, these courses will amount to a maximum of 12 ECTS credits and will be assigned according to the student’s academic needs, taking as a reference the following compulsory subjects from the Art History degree.

All subjects are worth 6 credits unless otherwise stated.
