Conference on Ukraine: keys to understanding military conflict

Carlos Taibo, writer and expert in Ukraine, held on May 10 at the UAB the conference "Analysis of the war in Ukraine. Keys to understanding military escalation: origins, geopolitical interests and perspectives".

Yesterday, Tuesday, May 10, the conference "Analysis of the war in Ukraine. Keys to understanding military escalation: origins, geopolitical interests and perspectives", which aimed to contribute to the understanding of the current armed conflict in Ukraine through a review of its causes, perspectives and impacts in geopolitical terms. The event was held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Assembly Hall of the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology of the UAB, and was attended by about 40 people.

The main presentation was given by Carlos Taibo, writer, editor and retired professor of Political Science and Administration at the Autonomous University of Madrid, who was based on the reflections of his book "Rusia frente a Ukraine: Imperios, Pueblos, Energía" when analyzing the keys to the war. Taibo's intervention was followed by a debate, where attendees were encouraged to reflect together and participatoryly on the conflict.

Rafael Grasa, professor of International Relations at the UAB and expert in security and conflict transformation, was in charge of the presentation and moderation of the event. The conference was closed by the vice-rector for International Relations of the UAB, Màrius Martínez.
