Visit to the Scientific Information Port

On 7 October at 12 noon, the AmicsUAB Association organises a visit to the UAB Scientific Information Port (Port d'Informació Científica, PIC), located in Building D of the UAB's Bellaterra campus. The PIC is a scientific and technological centre specialising in intensive data research and offers data analysis and management services for large-scale projects on particle physics and astrophysics. It conducts its activity thanks to a collaboration agreement with two research centres, the Institute of High Energy Physics (IFAE) and the Research Centre for Energy, Environment and Technology (CIEMAT), with the support of the UAB. The PIC is also a node of the Spanish Supercomputing Network and annually transfers 70 petabytes, making it the academic network's node with the largest amount of data traffic.
