Translation technologies and Catalan: from language resources to AI apps

This year, the inaugural event at the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the University School of Translation and Interpreting (Escola Universitària de Traducció i Interpretació, EUTI), predecessor of the current teaching centre, as well as the 20th anniversary of the journal Tradumàtica. The event will take place on 26 October at 1 p.m. and will include a debate entitled "#tradumatica20_catalan. Tecnologies de la traducció i català: des de recursos per a la llengua fins a l'aplicació de la IA". The event will be held in the Aula K/0004 and will include speeches by Màrius Martínez, Vice Rector for International Relations; Teresa Cabré, President of the Institute for Catalan Studies and the first director of the University Institute for Applied Linguistics (IULA) and the TERMCAT Terminology Centre; Jordi Mas, language activist and member of the SoftCatalà association; Marta Villegas, representative of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and the General Direction of Digital Innovation and Economy of the Government of Catalonia; and Olga Torres-Hostench, Dean of the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting, who will moderate the event.
