The exhibition entitled “La imatge impresa en les cultures visuals de l’anti-franquisme. Els anys de l’Assemblea de Catalunya” [The Printed Image in Visual Cultures of Anti-Francoism. The Years of the Assemblea de Catalunya], commissioned by historian Narcís Selles will be inaugurated on Friday at the Journals Hall of the Library of Humanities. The event will include the presence of Catalan Minister for Justice, Rights and Memory Gemma Ubasart; UAB Rector Javier Lafuente; Director of Memorial Democràtic Jordi Font; and exhibition commissioner Narcís Selles.
The exhibition aims to raise awareness on the importance of the arts and the whole of visual cultures in a decisive moment of the transition to democracy, the fight againt Franco's dictatorship and democratic advances. It includes pieces of art, engravings, posters, books, journals and other items created in Catalonia, Valencia and the Balearic Islands during the period of Franco's dictatorship. The exhibition forms part of the commemorative events held in celebration of 50 years since the founding of the Assemblea de Catalunya and aims to give recognition to all those people, groups, entities and organisations participating who fought for individual and group rights.
