Presentation of Catalonia's first radio archive

In an event to be held in commemoration of World Radio Day, the first radio archive of Catalonia will be presented on 13 February thanks to an initiative by the Institute of Communication (InCom-UAB) and the UAB Communications Library and General Newspaper Archive. The initiative has been directed by Cinto Niqui, lecturer in the UAB Department of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising. The archive, available online at https://arxiuradio.uab.cat/, contains more than 2,300 cuts from more than 500 radio stations. 

The presentation will be offered within the event organised by the Catalan Society of the Institute of Catalan Studies (IEC) in collaboration with the UAB and Ràdio 4 to commemorate World Radio Day, which since 2012 is held every year on 13 February. The event will take place at 5 p.m. at the IEC's Nicolau d'Olwer Hall. In addition to the presentation of Catalonia's Radio Archive, the event will include a conference on the research of the histroy of radio, by Maria Gutiérrez, member of the UAB Observatory for the Radio in Catalonia, and Ràdio 4's programme "L'altra ràdio", hosted by lecturer Cinto Niqui, will be recorded live.

The programme will be 15 de febrer i inclourà una tertúlia entre els degans de la Facultat de Ciències de la Comunicació de la UAB, Enric Marín; de la Facultat de Comunicació de la UPF, Carles Pont, i de la Facultat de Comunicació i Relacions Internacionals Blanquerna-URL, Josep Lluís Micó. Tots tres parlaran del projecte de creació d'un museu de la ràdio a Catalunya (virtual i/o físic).

 

The program will be broadcast on February 15 and will include a talk between the deans of the UAB Faculty of Communication Studies, Enric Marín; the UPF Faculty of Communication, Carles Pont, and from the Blanquerna-URL Faculty of Communication and International Relations, Josep Lluís Micó. All three will talk about the project of creating either a virtual or physical museum of radio in Catalonia.
