Monica Heller to be awarded an honorary doctorate

Canadian sociolinguist Monica Heller, lecturer at the University of Toronto, will be awarded an honorary doctorate by the UAB in a ceremony which will be held on 28 February at 12 noon, at the conference hall of the Rectorat building. The nomination of Heller, one of today's most outstanding academic figures in the fields of sociolinguistics and linguistic anthropology, was proposed for the award by the Faculty of Arts & Humanities. Melissa Moyer, professor of the Department of English and German Studies, will be her sponsor and will give a laudatory speech at the ceremony.
