Mar Massanell to give inaugural speech at the Institute for Catalan Studies

Mar Massanell, lecturer at the UAB Department of Catalan Studies, will give the inaugural speech of the 2022/23 academic year at the Institute for Catalan Studies (IEC) on 26 October at 6 p.m. The conference is entitled "A vegades se mos apegue paraules que les sints a les notícies" and focuses on the fact that language research is an act of love. The event will take place at the Prat de la Riba Room of the IEC in Barcelona. Massanell is member of the research group in History of the Catalan Language in Modern Times of the UAB, and a full member of the philology section of the IEC, as well as an expert in historical grammar and dialectology.

The event will be moderated by actress Sílvia Bel and will also include the presence of IEC President Teresa Cabré, and of Francina Armengol, president of the Balearic Islands. It will end with a musical performance by Maria del Mar Bonet and Borja Penalba.
