After months of rehearsing and preparing the play, the UAB Theatre Group will perform “La Zapatera Prodigiosa” (1930) by Federico García Lorca on 27 and 28 April. The play, which was translated into English as The Shoemaker's Prodigious Wife, tells the story of a marriage of convenience and the struggle between the woman's real life and her true desires.

The play has served to help members of the UAB Theatre Group discover Federico García Lorca, as a person and as a dramatist. According to the group's director, Ricard Gázquez, it was a practical learning experience in drama, scenification and interpretation. "Today's shoemaker's wife reveals herself as a rebellious, untamable and controversial individual, even today in the 21st century", explains Gázquez.

The theatre group will perform the play during two days, and offer two sessions every day, at 1:30 p.m. and at 6 p.m., at the UAB Theatre Hall.

Entrance is free, but tickets must be reserved by filling out this form.
