Jessica Retis to talk about communication and migration

On 18 December at 6:00 p.m., the Faculty of Communication Studies will host a conference by Jessica Retis, expert in journalism and migrations, director of the School of Journalism at the University of Arizona, Tucson and director of the school's master's degree in bilingual journalism. Her conference is entitled Understanding the Other. Theoretical and methodological approximation to the critical analysis of journalistic discourses.

Retis will reflect upon different research projects aiming to analyse and understand media's representation of migrations to the Global North. It will specifically address the representation of Latin American migrants in the United States, United Kingdom, Japan and Spain, as well as new platforms of self-representation in global cities.
