International Open Access Week 2022

From 24 to 30 October, the world will be celebrating International Open Access Week, a yearly initiative aimed at promoting open access to the academic and research sectors. This year's slogan is "Open for Climate Justice" and the objective is to raise awareness on open access as a means for achieving climate justice.

From 24 to 27 October, the UAB will be holding conferences to share knowledge and ideas related to this field.

On Monday 24 October, the Library Services and Office for International Projects will offer an introduction to open data policies within the EU's Horizon Europe programme, presented by the Head of the Office for International Projects Núria Claver. Following the conference, three UAB researchers, with projects funded by the European Research Council, will talk about their experiences when drafting their Data Management Plan. The event will go from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and those interested in attending must sign up here.

On Tuesday 25 October, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., Bianca Amaro, president of the Open Access Science Repositories Network - La Referencia (Red de Repositorios de Acceso Abierto a la Ciencia – La Referencia), will present the benefits open science represents to researchers. The conference will be held online and those interested must sign up here.

Finally, on Thursday 27 October, from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m, funding for open access publishing will be presented. Pablo Secades, consultant at Elsevier Research Platforms (Plataformas de Investigación Elsevier), will talk about open access publication models at Elsevier and the sustainable development goals at Scopus, with an emphasis on "Climate action", and the UAB as an example.
