Inauguration of the exhibition "Memòries des de l'Andana"

From 8 to 30 October 2026, the entrance hall of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities will host the exhibition “Memòries des de l'Andana: dones, àlbums i patrimonis oblidats” [Memories from the Barn: Women, Albums, and Forgotten Heritage]. The exhibition, promoted by the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the UAB as part of an itinerant exhibition through the campus, with the support of the Faculty Dean's Office and the Vice-Rectorate for Culture and Language Policy, invites reflection on the central role women have played and continue to play in preserving and transmitting family heritage and collective memory.

Through photographs, personal documents, recordings, and oral testimonies, the exhibition establishes a dialogue between two fundamental themes: the traditional, domestic preservation of these collections, and collective efforts to safeguard them in emergency situations. The first section pays tribute to the women who, within the private and family sphere, have preserved—across generations—letters, albums, and notebooks that shape a shared identity. The second theme highlights the rescue and restoration work carried out by volunteers and technical teams in the wake of disasters, such as the collections affected by the 2024 DANA storm in Valencia.
