  • UAB Cinema Hall

The UAB Solidarity Foundation (Fundació Autònoma Solidària, FAS) focuses on displacements occurring beyond the borders of Europe. In this occasion, it organises the film cycle Alshatat – Relats de diàspores al món àrab, which in three film forum sessions, will travel through different migration phenomena occurring in the Middle East.

The first film forum deals with what it means to be Palestinian, what it feels like to live under occupation, and constantly reconstruct and negotiate one's identity, resistance and land.

Through two documentaries, the audience is invited to study different fim narratives of the experiences of Palestinians both inside the occupied territories and as forced exiles. From the experience of Palestinians in the refugee camps of Lebanon, in the midst of a civil war (The Dream), to the traumatic psychological effects of heavily militarised control points (Memory of the Land), the two films aim to shed light on the day-to-day struggles and experiences of the people of Palestine.

After the films, there will be presentations and a participative debate with:

  • Samira Badran, Palestinian artist and director of the short film Memory of the Land
  • Dana Nidal, Palestinian activist
  • Laila Serra, activist and expert in gender studies and critical journalism
