  • Casa Orlandai, Carrer Jaume Piquet, 23 - Sarrià-Barcelona

This year marks 150 since the publication of The Descent of Man, and Selection in relation to sex, by Charles Darwin. Together with The Origin of Species and The Expressions of Men and Animals, they were the three crucial books that placed Darwinian reflection not only on evolution but on that of our species itself.
On Wednesday, May 18, Marc Furió, from the UAB Department of Geology, will present  "Musaranyes fòssils i homínids" at Casa Orlandai as part of the Cientific Coffee initiative.
In this talk, the biological characteristics of these fossils of small mammals such as shrews, used as paleoecological indicators, will be exposed. What are these organisms like and why do they give so much information? What are their relationships in the sites where hominids and humans are found?
