Event details

On 24 January, the AmicsUAB association will hold an online conference on "The Applications of Synchrotron Light" to explain how the ALBA light facility works and how this light is applied.

The event will be streamed live on the AmicsUAB’s YouTube channel and will include the participation of Caterina Biscari, director of the ALBA Synchrotron Light Facility, and Miquel Bosch, physical engineer, PhD student at the IBEC, and member of Neurones Fregides and the science podcast Newton’s Fourth Law. The conference will be moderated by Ramon Pascual, former rector of the UAB, and founder of the AmicsUAB and the ALBA Synchrotron Light Facility.

The ALBA facility is a particles accelerator located at Cerdanyola del Vallès which produces a type of light, known as synchrotron light, which allows visualising molecular and atomic structures of materials in order to study their properties. Every year, the synchrotron generates approximately 6,000 hours of light.
