Event details

The European Observatory for the Consumption and Cultivation of Cannabis (OECCC), the ICEERS Foundation, and the UAB Drug Policies Unit organise on 11 April the 2nd International Cannabis Sativa Science Conference, which will take place online and is entitled "towards a Medicinal and Therapeutic Law on Cannabis". This second edition aims to study the mechanisms to make a medicinal cannabis law in Spain that can benefit the greatest amount of patients possible, and have a positive effect on the healthcare system, the quality of life of people using cannabis for medicinal purposes, and for the society in general. With the aim of fostering a wider and more rigurous panorama that can contribute with proposals to the Parliament's subcommittee of medicinal cannabis, the conference will be made up of some 40 representatives from different areas: patients consuming medicinal cannabis, researchers, representatives of NGOs, healthcare professionals and political leaders from Latin American countries.

The conference will begin at 9:30 a.m. with presentations by Òscar Parés (UdPdD–UAB), Noemí Sánchez (OECCC) and Jose Carlos Bouso (ICEERS). The event will continue with debated with patients and healthcare workers, and with conferences by specialists such as Juan Carlos Usó and Elizabeth Erhardt, and representatives of entities such as FAAAT, Episteme, Energy Control and the Spanish Society of Nursing and Cannabis. In the afternoon, at 4 p.m., there will be a debate on political experiences in Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru and Uruguay, and tribute will be paid to Dr Joan Parés, who passed away in 2021.

The conference will be aired live on Marihuana Televisión. For more information, please send an e-mail to: hugo@observatoriocannabis.com or oscarpares@iceers.org.
