Paula Abramo, Mexican poet and translator, will be awarded the Giovanni Pontiero Translation Prize for her translation into Spanish of The Head of the Saint (A cabeça do santo, Fondo de Cultura Económica de Méjico) by Brazilian writer Socorro Acioli, on 10 December at 3 p.m. in Room 4 of the UAB Faculty of Translation and Interpreting. The 24th edition of the award, organised by the Centro de Língua Portuguesa/Camões I.P. in Barcelona and the UAB Faculty of Translation and Interpreting, is dedicated to translations of literary works from Portuguese into Spanish, of any genre and published between January 2021 and December 2023. Abramo has extensive experience translating Portuguese-language authors, particularly Brazilians, such as Raul Pompeya, Clarice Lispector, Luiz Ruffato and Angélica Freitas. In the poetic field, we can read her work Fiat Lux ( Audisea, 2012). The event will also be streamed live on the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting YouTube channel.
