BLACK: Opening Performance of the 1st Culture and Human Rights Week
Event details
- Start: 16 Mar 2026 13:30
Black is a stage dance piece based on improvisation and inspired by choreographic elements from key styles of the African urban scene, such as coupé-décalé, afrohouse, azonto and krump. With this work, the artist seeks to reflect on and express what it feels like to be a Black person within our “modern” society.
A reflection on violence and the emancipation of contemporary Blackness through a body that narrates, challenges and unsettles. A body that is, at the same time, wound and celebration.
Oulouy is an artist born in Ivory Coast and based in Barcelona, specialised in urban dance forms such as hip-hop, house dance and various modern African dances, including coupé-décalé and ndombolo, with a strong emphasis on freestyle.
