On 10 March, the Department of Public Law and Historical-Legal Sciences of the Faculty of Law is organising a day-long event entitled “Constitutionalism, Populism and the Judiciary: Case Studies”, in tribute to José Tudela, former professor of constitutional law at the University of Zaragoza, for his career in the defence of constitutionalism. The session will take place at 10:00 a.m. in the courtroom of the Faculty of Law.

The event will analyse the impact of populism on the judiciary from a comparative perspective, with particular attention to Latin American cases and the risks these phenomena may pose to the rule of law. Speakers will include Roberto Viciano, professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Valencia, who will speak on populism and the judiciary in Latin America; Miguel Revenga, professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Cádiz; and Enriqueta Expósito, professor of Constitutional Law at the UB, in the debate on the threats of populism to the judiciary; and Alfredo Ramírez, professor of Constitutional Law at the UAB.
