Fifty years after the death of Francisco Franco, the Centre for the Study of Dictatorships and Democracies (CEDID-UAB) is co-organising, together with other Spanish and French universities and the Francisco Largo Caballero Foundation, the international symposium on “Radiography of Anti-Francoism in Spain and France. Parties, Unions and Social Movements (1939-1977)”. The meeting will take place in the city of Alacant, Valencia, and the city of Albi, France, on 20, 21, 26 and 27 November, and will bring together specialists to analyse the forms of political, social and cultural resistance against Francoism.

The last day of the symposium will take place on Thursday 27 November and will feature presentations on the new radical left, the labour movement, and civil society's democratic learning. Juan Andrade, Pere Ysàs, Mónica Moreno, and Alberto Carrillo will be taking part, analysing the influence of social and cultural movements at the end of the dictatorship. The day will end with an official closing hosted by Mónica Moreno, lecturer at the University of Alacant, and Bruno Vargas, lecturer at the University of Toulouse.
