Fifty years after the death of Francisco Franco, the Centre for the Study of Dictatorships and Democracies (CEDID-UAB) is co-organising, together with other Spanish and French universities and the Francisco Largo Caballero Foundation, the international symposium on “Radiography of Anti-Francoism in Spain and France. Parties, Unions and Social Movements (1939-1977)”. The meeting will take place in the city of Alacant, Valencia, and the city of Albi, France, on 20, 21, 26 and 27 November, and will bring together specialists to analyse the forms of political, social and cultural resistance against Francoism.

The University of Alacant is hosting the second day of the Symposium on 21 November, focused on armed and everyday resistance. Mercedes Yusta, Ana Cabana, Francesc Vilanova and Rubén Vega will participate, reflecting on the peripheral national resistances and the political cultures of anti-Francoism. The meeting continues on the next day, 22 November, with a visit to the places of resistance in Alacant.
