  • Fort Pienc - Ana Maria Moix Library, Barcelona (Plaça Fort Pienc 4)

On 8 October, at 6:30 p.m., the Fort Pienc-Ana María Moix Library in Barcelona will host the first edition of the Jornades Chinacult.es. Producció artística entre Xina i Espanya [Chinacult.es Conference. Artistic production between China and Spain]. The conference was born with the vocation of creating a space for meeting and dialogue between artists, creators, cultural managers, the general public, students and academics interested in mobility, synergies and cultural exchanges between China and Spain.

The meeting will feature the presence of poet, writer and journalist Paloma Chen and author of theater, poetry and fiction Minke Wang, both descendants of Chinese migrants with different life trajectories that illustrate the historical and generational changes of the Chinese diaspora. Taking their works as a starting point and reference, we will talk about how the two artists have taken the floor, the difficulties they have had to face, identities, frictions, representations, positioning and power relations in the context of the cultural industries. The conversation will be moderated by Irene Masdeu, anthropologist and professor in the Department of Translation, Interpreting & East Asian Studies at the UAB, and Laia Manonelles, art historian and professor in the Department of Art History at the UB.

This activity is organised by Irene Masdeu and Roberto Figliulo, members of the Interasia Research Group at the UAB, and has the collaboration of the Humanities Library, the Confucius Institute Foundation of Barcelona, and the Department of Translation and Interpreting & East Asian Studies at the UAB.
