The first specimens of the invasive Vespa velutina species, the Asian hornet, entered Catalonia in 2013. At first, they did not affect a large part of the territory, but after a decade, they have expanded and affected more and more beekeepers and other groups, in addition to being present in urban and periurban areas. The Barcelona Beekeepers Association (Associació d’Apicultors de Barcelona, ASAB) offers a session entitled "Eliminating the Asian Hornet: mission impossible?" to discover how other places in the Iberian Peninsula more affected than Catalonia have proceded, with the aim of gathering more criteria and devise a methods to help avoid the trials and errors occurring in other places, as well as to plan a community solution to the problem.
