Legislative proposal to defend the rights of the homeless

On 10 October, the UAB organises a meeting on the rights of the homeless in collaboration with the Assís Centre d’Acollida, the Comunitat de Sant Egidio, the Sant Joan de Déu Serveis Socials and the Arrels Fundació, entities behind the legislative proposal to aid the homeless which was presented to the Parliament of Catalonia on 25 January 2022.

The event, which will take place at the UAB Casa de Convalescència at 9:30 a.m., will begin with a round table to present the proposed law. It will include the participation of Antoni Milian, professor in Administrative Law at the UAB; Bea Fernandez, head of the legal team at the Arrels Fundació; Lidia Pitarch, PhD in Human Safety and Global Law; and lawyer Eva Pich. The debate will be moderated by Salvador Maneu, director of social services at Sant Joan de Déu. The second part of the meeting will include representatives of different parliamentary groups who will be debating this law in parliament.

The meeting will end with speeches by Josep Maria Forné, General Director of Social Rights of the Government of Catalonia; UAB Rector Javier Lafuente, and  Salvador Busquets, Director of Càritas Barcelona.
