Eight students take part in the Erasmus+ DEVOS Programme in Klagenfurt (Austria)

DEVOS (Developing Outstanding Sustainable Entrepreneurship Competencies) is a hybrid training programme based on sustainable entrepreneurship, led by Carinthia University of Applied Sciences and the Degrees in Tourism and Hotel Management at the UAB. The bachelor’s degree students spent a week in Klagenfurt developing innovative ideas alongside academics, teachers and entrepreneurs from Austria, Slovenia and Italy.

The UAB inaugurates a peace series with university members from Eastern Europe

On 6 April, the UAB will be holding an institutional event entitled "Vent de l'est: guerra i pau als confins d'Europa" [Wind From the East: war and peace on the edges of Europe], in which members of the university community from Serbia, Rumania, Russia and Ukraine will share their impressions on the conflict currently taking place in Ukraine. The event will begin at 1 p.m. at the Journals Hall of the Humanities Library, at the Faculty of Arts & Humanities.

Global Case Study Challenge 2021: Bolstering the Acquisition of New Virtual Teamwork Skills

For the third year running, UAB Tourism & Hotel Management students have taken part in this international e-learning experience, which enables them to acquire the skills for working remotely in multicultural teams. Approximately 50 third-year undergraduates participated in the resolution of case studies, with around 20 fourth-year undergraduates collaborating in the organisation and planning of the conference itself.

Ruizhe Fang: 'I would like to contribute so that more researchers and tourism professionals from other cultures can better understand Chinese tourism'

Ruizhe Fang is the holder of the UAB's first PhD in Tourism, also the only one in the province of Barcelona. The object of his study has been precisely the perception of Barcelona and the motivation of the Chinese tourist to visit the city. He defended his doctoral thesis on September 16, in the Graduate School, obtaining the maximum grade, and with the suitcase ready to return to China to continue his career in academia.

Ruizhe Fang: holder of UAB's first PhD in Tourism

On Thursday 16 September, in the Presentation Room of the Graduate School, Chinese student Ruizhe Fang defended the doctoral thesis entitled “Chinese tourists’ perception of destination, travel motivation, value pursuit, and their connections”, obtaining the maximum grade.

The School takes part in an intecultural and global project

Students from the Degree in Tourism (English) Participate in a Global Intercultural Project

Over 300 students from universities throughout Europe and South America have participated in the second Global Case Study Challenge. The aim of this global project is to promote skills in cultural intelligence and remote virtual-team management.
