Professorship of research into heritage, technology and society (MNACTEC-UAB) has launched a call for up to three research grants for the completion of master’s theses during the 2026-2027 academic year. The aim is to promote research into Catalonia’s industrial, scientific and technical heritage, history and culture.

The Faculty of Law encourages students who are preparing or are currently working on a master’s thesis related to these topics to apply. The call is open to any master’s programme and accepts both individual and collaborative proposals.

The priority research areas are:

  • The image of industrial society.

  • “Irrigating and transforming heritage”: the material, landscape and social heritage of the Canals d’Urgell.

  • Women’s work in industrial society.

Priority will be given to original research projects that offer new perspectives on lesser-studied or underrepresented topics. The social impact and practical applicability of the research will also be taken into consideration. Collaboration with local or regional research centres will be viewed favourably.

Support from a Museum or Heritage Site

The proposal must be endorsed by one of the 29 museums and heritage sites that form part of the MNACTEC Territorial Network, with the aim of ensuring that the research has a positive impact on and contributes to the local area.

Application Documents and Submission

Applications must include:

  • The full name(s) of the applicant(s).

  • A project proposal for the master’s thesis.

  • A summary of the proposal in Catalan.

  • A letter of support from one of the institutions within the MNACTEC Territorial Network.

Proposals may be submitted in any of Spain’s official languages, as well as in French or English.

Each grant is worth €1,000 net, with half the amount paid at the beginning of the research project and the remaining half upon its completion.
