Representatives of Prison Administrations Discussed Current Reintegration Challenges at UAB
On June 3, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) hosted an institutional meeting bringing together representatives from the prison administrations of Catalonia, the Basque Country, and the Spanish State. Organized as part of the Scientific-Practical Conference on Reintegration, the session provided an opportunity to reflect on the main challenges facing the reintegration system and to share experiences and future perspectives.
The session took place in the Board Room of the UAB Faculty of Law and brought together representatives from several prison administrations to examine the current challenges of the reintegration system.
Participants included José María Bastos, Director of Justice at the Department of Justice and Human Rights of the Basque Government; Jordi Camps, Head of the Intervention Service at the Directorate General for Penitentiary Affairs of the Government of Catalonia; Rosa Martínez, Head of the Planning Service; Flori Pozuelo, Head of the Specific Treatment Programs Area at the General Secretariat of Penitentiary Institutions; Guadalupe Rivera, Deputy Director General for Open Regime and Alternative Sentences and Measures; Gemma Torres, Deputy Director for Rehabilitation and Health Programs; and Silvia Tolosana, Head of the Evaluation Service.
During the session, participants shared experiences, best practices, and reflections on the evolution of prison policies and social reintegration mechanisms.
The event highlighted the importance of continuing to promote coordination among prison administrations in order to address the current and future challenges of the reintegration system. The exchange of experiences and joint reflection helped identify new opportunities for collaboration aimed at improving the effectiveness of rehabilitation and social reintegration policies.
The meeting concluded the Scientific-Practical Conference on Reintegration, consolidating a space for institutional dialogue and the shared development of knowledge in the field of corrections and rehabilitation.
