The UAB inaugurated the Scientific-Practical Conference on Reintegration
On Monday, June 1, the first day of the Scientific-Practical Conference on Reintegration was held at the Palau Macaya in Barcelona, an initiative that aimed to establish itself as a meeting space between research, professional practice, and public policy in the field of social reintegration.
Organized by the Research Group on Desistance from Crime and Reintegration Policies at UAB, the research project “Third Degree, Parole and Reintegration”, the Justice and Society Center of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, and the FIADYS Foundation, the conference brought together professionals from prison administrations, juvenile justice, social organizations, and researchers specializing in desistance and reintegration.
The opening session, dedicated to the theme “Society and Reintegration”, included several roundtable discussions focused on supporting individuals in open prison regimes, community reintegration, and support programs for people completing their prison process.
The conference continued on June 2 and 3 at the UAB Faculty of Law with sessions dedicated to research on desistance and reintegration, as well as institutional reflection on the current challenges of the prison system and reintegration policies.
The event represented an opportunity to strengthen dialogue between universities, public administrations, and civil society, contributing to knowledge transfer and to the improvement of policies aimed at the social reintegration of people in conflict with the law.
