Academic Ceremony Honouring Retired Faculty 2025: Tribute to Dr. Gregori Garzón Clariana

The Faculty of Law at the UAB has held the 2025 Academic Ceremony Honouring Retired Faculty, an event dedicated to recognising the teaching and academic careers of faculty members who are retiring, with special mention of Dr. Gregori Garzón Clariana.

On 16 December 2025, the Academic Ceremony Honouring Retired Faculty took place in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Law at the UAB, an annual event aimed at highlighting the teaching, research and institutional contributions of faculty members who are concluding their university careers.

The event was opened by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Ricardo Esteban Legarreta, and included speeches by Dr. Esther Zapater Duque, Secretary General of the UAB and Professor of Public International Law; Dr. Montserrat Pi Llorens, Coordinator of the Public International Law Unit; and Dr. Carolina Gala Durán, Director of the Department of Law and Historical-Juridical Sciences, who emphasised the importance of the academic and human legacy of the honoured faculty.

This edition of the ceremony was particularly moving, with a tribute to Dr. Gregori Garzón Clariana, a professor of recognised prestige in the field of Public International Law. His career at the Faculty has been marked by a strong commitment to quality teaching, the education of generations of students, and a constant contribution to the academic and institutional life of the UAB.

Following the presentation of the institutional gift, Dr. Garzón addressed a few words of thanks in an atmosphere of collective recognition that reflected the appreciation and respect of the university community.

The Faculty of Law wishes to express its sincerest gratitude to Dr. Gregori Garzón Clariana for all these years of dedication and service to the university.
