Dr Marc Balcells, a professor at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC), will deliver a lecture on 23 October exploring the links between the art world and crime, as part of UAB’s Bachelor's Degree in Criminology.
On 23 October 2026, at 10:15 a.m., the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Law at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) will host the lecture “Priceless. The Criminal Business of Art”, delivered by Dr Marc Balcells, a professor at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC).
The lecture will explore the relationship between the art world and crime, a topic of interest in criminological analysis. The art market has particular characteristics that raise questions about illicit activities involving cultural property and its circulation.
This session offers an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of crime from an interdisciplinary perspective and to explore a field that connects criminology with cultural heritage and economic dynamics.
The event is organised as part of the Criminological Language course within the Bachelor's Degree in Criminology, by lecturers Anna Meléndez, Laura Zurera and Alba Llagostera.
