Seminar: “On the Eve of Behemoth: The Assault of National-Conservative Jurists on the Democratic Republic”

The Faculty of Law of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona will host a seminar on May 7 at 1:00 pm in the Aula Magna, devoted to the analysis of legal and political thought in contexts of democratic crisis.

Under the title “On the Eve of Behemoth: The Assault of National-Conservative Jurists on the Democratic Republic”, the event will revolve around the book of the same name by Professor Sebastián Martín, Professor of Legal History at the University of Seville.

During the session, the author will present the main arguments of his work, focusing on the role of national-conservative jurists in processes that destabilize democratic institutions. The analysis offers a critical perspective on the function of law in contexts of political regression, as well as on the doctrinal strategies used to legitimize authoritarian projects.

This seminar is part of the academic activities promoted by the Department of Public Law and Historical-Legal Sciences at UAB, with the aim of fostering debate on the history of legal thought and its relevance to contemporary democratic challenges.

The activity is open to the entire university community.
