Within the framework of the 1st Culture and Human Rights Week 2025-26, the Faculty of Law of the UAB organizes the seminar “Between codes and conflicts. The future of Humanitarian Law in the AI era”, which will take place next Wednesday, March 18, at 08:30 h, in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Law.

The session will address the main challenges that the militarization of artificial intelligence poses for International Humanitarian Law, from an interdisciplinary and critical perspective.

The seminar will feature the intervention of professors from the faculty Joaquín Rodríguez 'lvarez, and Professor Roser Martínez Quirante, who will analyze the legal and ethical limits of the use of algorithms in contexts of armed conflict.

In addition, Tica Font, president of the Delàs Center for Peace Studies, who will offer a pacifist perspective on the geopolitical and humanitarian impact of military AI, and Pere Brunet Costa, researcher linked to the UPC, will participate, who will delve into the technical implications and risks of autonomous armament systems.

The Faculty encourages the entire university community to attend and participate in this space for reflection on the future of Humanitarian Law in the age of artificial intelligence.
