Last Friday, 10 July, Jordi Borja i Sebastià passed away at the age of 85. Today, the Department of Geography remembers his years as a member of our Department, where he worked between 1970 and 1985.

Oriol Costa Roig has been awarded the Best Doctoral Thesis in Urban Geography Prize (4th edition), granted by the Urban Geography Working Group of the Spanish Association of Geography.

Ameneh Alcalà and Ivan Campos achieved first place in the 11th edition of the European CASSINI Hackathons, an initiative promoted by the European Commission and the European Union Agency for the Space Programme to encourage innovative projects based on European space technologies.

Pau Santandreu Bertran’s final thesis (a graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Environment, and Territorial Planning) has been honored at the 9th edition of the Arcadi Oliveres Award for Final Theses Promoting Global Justice, presented by the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

Joan Checa Rius has been awarded the Salvador Giner Prize for Doctoral Theses, presented by the Philosophy and Social Sciences Section of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans

The undergraduate thesis by Gerard Villares Robleda (student of the Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Environmental Management and Spatial Planning) has been awarded in the 10th edition of the Awards.

On October 16, 2025, during the Extraordinary General Assembly of the AGE, the positions corresponding to the odd-numbered fraction of the Board of Directors were renewed.
