COALESCE Lab - GRAFO

The COALESCE Lab is a team of the GRAFO (Fundamental and Oriented Anthropology Research Group), a consolidated group recognized by the AGAUR. It is dedicated to studying the processes of social exclusion, social cohesion and political polarization from a relational perspective or social networks. The COALESCE Lab aims to contribute to the research of these processes by focusing in-depth on the daily relationships between citizens and their social consequences. Thus, it aims to connect micro-level relationships with their macro-level consequences. To this end, the COALESCE Lab carries out mixed methods research: it uses ethnographic and qualitative methods to investigate in depth the social relations of groups of people and how they reproduce or reduce segregation or social exclusion, its perception and experience for individuals, its dynamics and context; survey methods and computational analysis to explore the structural patterns of the resulting networks, and agent-based modelling and simulation to study possible macro-level outcomes in greater depth. It is also dedicated to disseminating knowledge to social actors active in these processes.
