The department

The Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology of the UAB will pioneer Spain in introducing the degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology and continues in the first line of anthropological research and teaching in the State.

For more than thirty years, the professors of Anthropology at the UAB have directed their teaching and research towards ethnographic studies in various parts of the world, towards the development of anthropological theory in the tension between cultural specificity and comparison transcultural, in epistemological, methodological and technical reflection on anthropological knowledge and the application of this knowledge to various social intervention programs. It is this accumulated baggage that the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology of the UAB can offer to its students at a time when, in the context of globalization, the intensification of international migratory movements and other transnational dynamics, fans of diversity cultural of the central themes of the Social Sciences.
