Researcher Dr Joleah Lamb, who has recently joined ICTA-UAB through the ATRAE programme of the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (MICIU), will give an overview of her work and research trajectory. ATRAE programm is a national initiative designed to attract internationally recognised research talent to Spanish universities and research centres. Her arrival will strengthen the institute’s international leadership in environmental health and marine ecosystem research.

Coming from the University of California Irvine, where she was an Assistant Professor and led the Healthy Oceans and People Laboratory (HOPE Lab), Dr. Lamb will lead the project GREENMARINE (Reference: ATR2025-164731) over the next four years as Principal Investigator.

Joleah Lamb's research focuses on Oceans and Human Health, including: (A) identifying and evaluating management strategies to mitigate diseases that threaten marine organisms and human livelihoods in developing coastal regions. (B) Examining the influence of marine-based industries on health and disease of marine organisms, specifically dredging for coastal development and natural resource extraction, fishing, shipping and tourism.

The project, Elimination of Antibiotic-Resistant Pathogens Using Nature-Based Solutions in Built Marine Environments, addresses one of the most urgent global health challenges: antibiotic resistance.
