Dídac Jordà (PhD student ICTA-UAB) April 18th from 14h to 15h30 (Aula Q4/1003 UAB School of Engineering building) Dídac Jordà. Dídac is a PhD student in Ecological Economics group at ICTA, working on assessment of ecosystem services delivered by rivers. He holds a degree in Biology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and a Masters in Ecology at the University of Barcelona (UB). For the past four years, he has been working on calculation of environmental flows, river management and impact studies in an environmental consultancy in Barcelona. Currently, he is participating in the project ¿Social Metabolism and Environmental Conflicts¿ at ICTA, focused on conflicts generated by water diversions in rivers. Abstract: River Ter, situated in north-eastern Catalonia, is 208 km long and suffers more than 100 diversions of water. It is also the major source of drinking water for the metropolitan area of Barcelona and is object of plenty of uses. In this project, I attempt to assess the main ecosystem services delivered by instream flows in the River Ter, to analyze the social behavior in inter- and intra-catchment water conflicts and to facilitate decision making processes. In this presentation, I will explain what I have done during first six months of my PhD and what I attempt to do afterwards, looking forward to getting a lot of feedback.
