Students in their final year of the mathematics degree or the applied statistics degree have the opportunity to take a subject called ‘Work Experience in Companies and/or Institutions’. The fundamental goal of this subject is to provide students with comprehensive training and give them the chance to put their theoretical knowledge into practice by working on real-life projects. It also allows students to enter the job market with a minimum level of experience. The participating companies also benefit from the temporary presence of highly motivated young people with new ideas. This subject helps students make the transition from the university to the job market through direct contact with the business and economic sectors, as well as by improving their skills and their value as professionals. The UAB draws up a ‘Work Experience Agreement’ that is signed by each student and host company. A tutor is assigned to monitor each student’s work.
